Power Ratings are now available in the Stats section. The ratings are calculated by comparing each team to the league average in pitching and batting(to be more precise, I am using each team’s Z Score, or # of standard deviations from the league average). By default the ratings use wOBA for batting and ERA for pitching, although there are several options you can choose from if you prefer to use different stats.
According to the Power Ratings, for the 2014 TCBA Season, Harrisburg and Milwaukee should be the favorites for the World Series. They are followed by a pack of 4 teams that have to be considered solid contenders: Red Hill, Belgrade, Scott and Windy City. Second City seems like a solid bet for a playoff spot, but the 8th and final playoff spot looks pretty wide open. Linglestown, New Scottland and Memphis should be in the mix, although all three have stumbled out of the gate.
Looking ahead to the 2015 TCBA Season, it looks like more of the same may be on tap. Milwaukee, Linglestown, Harrisburg, Red Hill and Windy City comprise the Top 5 teams at this point.
